Agencies – At least 38 Muslim Brotherhood
supporters killed in disputed circumstances at a prison on Sunday, as
the leader of Egypt’s powerful army warned he would not tolerate
violence, urging Islamists to change course. There were conflicting
reports of how deaths occurred. The Egyptian interior ministry said the
prisoners had taken an officer hostage and died after suffocating to
death after police fired tear gas. “Thirty-six of the prisoners died of
suffocation and crowding after tear gas was used to stop their escape,”
the ministry said.
Islamists sources stated that the supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood party were executed while being transferred to Abu Zaabal prison near Cairo in a convoy of about 600 detainees. The Brotherhood, under huge pressure since police stormed its protest camps in Cairo and killed hundreds of its supporters on Wednesday, staged several more marches across the country to demand the reinstatement of Morsi, ousted by Sisi on July 3.
The deaths of the prisoners, captured during
the fierce fighting in recent days around Cairo’s Ramses Square, came as
Egypt’s army leader Gen. Abdel-Fatah el-Sissi vowed that the military
would not tolerate further violence after four days of nationwide
clashes left nearly 900 people dead.
While el-Sissi called for the inclusion of Islamists in the government, security forces detained Muslim Brotherhood members in raids aimed at stopping more planned rallies supporting ousted President Mohammed Morsi – which the military-backed government says fuels the violent unrest.
The killed detainees were part of a prison truck convoy of some 600 people heading to Abu Zaabal prison in northern Egypt, the officials told The Associated Press. Detainees in one of the trucks rioted Sunday night and managed to capture a police officer inside, the officials said.

الجيش المصري يعدم بدم بارد 38 معتقلا على الأقلاقدم الجيش المصري اليوم الأحد على إعدام ما بين 38 – 52 معتقلا سياسيا على الأقل من انصار الرئيس المصري محمد مرسي الذي أطيح به من قبل المؤسسة العسكرية في الثالث من شهر تموز الماضيجاءت عملية الإعدام الجماعي للمعتقلين العطشى والجياع بدم بارد داخل إحدى السيارات العسكرية التي تقلهم إلى سجن أبو زعبل، زذلك بعد يومين فقط من توقعنا على إقدام الجيش على القيام بمثل هذه الخطوة أسوة بما حدث للمعتقلين إبان وصول الرئيس المصري الراحل جمال عبد الناصر إلى سدة الحكم عام 1954وادعت مصادر مصرية بأن المعتقلين من جماعة الإخوان المسلمين قتلوا أثناء محاولتهم الهرب أثناء ترحيلهم من مديرية أمن القاهرة إلى سجن أبو زعبل, وذلك وسط مطالبة بإجراء تحقيق دولي عاجل في ما حدثويبدو أن القيادة المصرية الحاكمة في تشكيلتها الحالية ومن خلفها حكم العسكر, ماضية في سياسة تطهير الجمهورية من مؤيدي الرئيس المصري المسجون, والتخلص من خصومها وحثهم على التراجع بأسرع وقت ممكن من أجل الوصول إلى سدة الحكم بهدوء بعيدا عن منافسة الإخوان المسلمينفبينما قالت وزارة الداخلية المصرية في بيانات صادرة عنها بإن هناك إصابات بين السجناء الذين يجري الآن إسعافهم، بعد أن قاموا بحالة شغب وهياج في محاولة للهروب أثناء تسليمهم إلى سجن أبو زعبل في محافظة القليوبية, قالت وكالة أنباء الشرق الأوسط المصرية الرسمية إن 36 معتقلا احتياطيا من جماعة الإخوان المسلمين قتلوا أثناء محاولة هروب جرت خلال ترحيل السجناء من مديرية أمن القاهرة إلى سجن أبو زعبلوتتستر السلطات المصرية على أعداد المعتقلين والقتلى الحقيقيين وتبث أخبارا متناقضة في هذا الخصوصوجاء في البيانات الصادرة عن وزارة الداخلية أن السجناء الذين يبلغ عددهم أكثر من 600 احتجزوا ضابطاَ من قوة التأمين التي تشرف على نقلهم, وأثناء عملية تحرير الضابط التي قامت بها قوات الأمن أصيب السجناء بسبب استخدام الغاز للسيطرة على الموقف، ونتيجة لذلك حدثت حالات اختناق لعدد من المحبوسينويعتبر قتل المعتقلين والأسرى جريمة حرب في سياق القوانين الدولية الإتفاقيات التي وقعتها جمهورية مصر الرعربية مع المؤسسات الدولية في الأمم المتحدةعلى صعيد آخر غادر د محمد البرادعى نائب رئيس الجمهورية المستقيل ظهر اليوم من مطار القاهرة إلى فيينا حيث قام مكتب وزارة الخارجية بمطار القاهرة بإنهاء اجراءات سفره على طائرة مصر للطيران المتجه إلى فيينا رقم 797وقامت شركة ميناء القاهرة الجوى باستضافته فى باستراحة الدرجة الأولى بمكتب الركاب بعد تأخر إقلاع الطائرة .. فيما رفض البرادعى التحدث إلى الصحفيين بالمطار حول سفره وهل سيعود للقاهرة قريبا مرة أخرى أم لا
