Salam al Maseeh

The first Palestinian above all others is Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Let be accursed any gospel other than that which was preached at the beginning, received not from man but from Christ Jesus, thou alone, in whom we have redemption through thy all holy infinitely pure and undefiled blood, the remission of our sins, who in the future shall recreate the heavens and the earth, called by thine special choice, who before hoped in Christ with all who heard the word of truth and believed, sealed with the Holy Spirit of the promise, who is the pledge of our inheritance, to the redemption of the possession, for the praise of his glory, in faith in the Lord Jesus, and of love for all the saints in unceasing intercession of all the elect angels and saints of God, virgins, with all thanksgiving, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in deep knowledge of him; the eyes of our minds being enlightened, to know the hope of his calling, the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and the exceeding greatness of his power towards us who believe, according to the working of his mighty power wrought in Christ the only first born from the dead in the flesh raised above all things he made subject under his feet, we who hold him the head directly and no other, Christ Jesus our only Lord and Saviour immortal son of the immortal Father in the unity and power and bond of love of the immortal Holy Spirit our Paraclete unto the ages of the ages. Amen.

The Final Trial: Jesus Christ begotten of the Father - not made

A prayer of Isaias the Prophet.

Is. 26: 9-21

(Isaias' prophecy, which is also his prayer.)

O Lord our God, grant us peace. Out of the night my spirit waketh at dawn unto Thee, O God; for Thy commandments are a light upon the earth. Learn righteousness, all ye that dwell upon the earth. For the ungodly man hath come to an end; every one that learneth not righteousness upon the earth shall not be able to do truth; let the ungodly be taken away, that he may not see the glory of the Lord. O Lord, Thine arm is lifted up, and they knew it not; but when they know it, let them be put to shame. Zeal shall lay hold upon an untaught people, and now fire shall devour the adversaries. O Lord our God, bestow Thy peace upon us, for Thou hast given all things unto us. O Lord our God, take us for Thy possession. O Lord, we know no other beside Thee; we call upon Thy name. But the dead shall not see life, neither shall physicians raise them up; therefore hast Thou brought wrath upon them, and hast slain them, and hast taken every man of them away. Bring more evils upon them, Lord; bring more evils upon them that are glorious upon the earth. O Lord, in trouble we remembered Thee; with small affliction was Thy chastening with us. And as a woman in travail draweth nigh to be delivered, and crieth out in her travail, so have we become in the presence of Thy beloved. We have conceived, O Lord, because of Thy fear, and have suffered pangs, and have brought forth the spirit of Thy salvation, which we have wrought upon the earth. We shall not fail, but all those that dwell upon the earth shall fail. The dead shall arise, and they that are in the tomb shall awake, and they that are upon the earth shall rejoice. For the dew which Thou sendest is healing unto them; but the land of the ungodly shall perish. Go, my people, enter into thine inner chamber, shut thy door, hide thyself for a little season [during the Great Tribulation, hidden in mountains and dens and caves of the earth - there is NO secret rapture which is only an heretical apostate Lurianic Talmudic Judaic doctrine], until the anger of the Lord shall pass away.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

And see: The Abomination of Desolation

Note in the below that this is a description of the evil that precedes the Antichrist who is the Abomination of Desolation. Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ then comes after the reign of Antichrist has proceeded for a while. Antichrist, his reign and the False Prophet and all their followers are then destroyed by the Second Coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ from heaven with all His elect Angels and sent to hell forever. The saints will then reign with Our Lord Jesus Christ at their head on earth forever.

Palestine, which is properly the Holy Land for in it walked God in the flesh, Jesus Christ, and there He allowed Himself to be sacrificed for the salvation of those who profess Him from the heart and with the mouth, is a miniature of all the evil that has come upon the earth and there will the final evil be concentrated in its fullness and rule from there for a short time.

From: The Abomination of Desolation

Writing in the second century, St. Hippolytus wrote the following about the evil that will abound before the coming of Antichrist:

The temples of God will be like houses, and there will be overturnings of the churches everywhere. The Scriptures will be despised, and everywhere they will sing the songs of the adversary. Fornications, and adulteries, and perjuries will fill the land; sorceries, and incantations, and divinations will follow after these with all force and zeal. And, on the whole, from among those who profess to be Christians will rise up then false prophets, false apostles, impostors, mischief-makers, evil-doers, liars against each other, adulterers, fornicators, robbers, grasping, perjured, mendacious, hating each other. The shepherds will be like wolves; the priests will embrace falsehood; the monks will lust after the things of the world; the rich will assume hardness of heart; the rulers will not help the poor; the powerful will cast off all pity; the judges will remove justice from the just, and, blinded with bribes, they will call in unrighteousness.

MATTHEW 28

CHAPTER XXVIII.

The resurrection of Christ. His commission to his disciples.

1 And *in the end of the sabbath, when it began to dawn towards the first day of the week,

18 And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth.

19 *Going, therefore, teach ye all nations: baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit;

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.

"Consummation of the world," - the end of this age of grace and the beginning of the eternal ages with Christ reigning visibly. This is the end of the eschaton and the beginning of the eternal recreated heavens and the earth and will begin when Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ returns from heaven in the same flesh He rose with and ascended into the third heaven with, seated at the right hand of the Father. His return will be with all of His elect angels. He will raise and judge all men in the flesh and then recreate the heavens and the earth, which in that state will last that way for eternity. There will NOT be any sin in the new heavens and earth, so prepare now by confessing the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and be baptized as commanded above and shown how to baptize below and live Holy and Godly lives in sincerity and humility and meekness waiting for the Lord when He returns so that we are not like the five foolish virgins but are like the five wise virgins.

Method of Baptism

From the Didache (49 A.D. Council of Jerusalem):

Chapter 7. Concerning Baptism.

And concerning baptism, baptize this way: Having first said all these things, baptize the one to be baptized into Jesus Christ in "the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit," in running water. But if you have no running water, baptize into other water [still water]; and if you cannot do so in cold water, do so in warm. But if you have neither, pour out water three times upon the head onto the one to be baptized saying at that time "in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." But before the baptism, if possible, let the baptizer fast, and the baptized, and whoever else can; but you shall order the baptized [when there is time] to fast one or two days before.

Baptism can and should always be performed immediately when there is danger of death of the one to be baptized. For instance, impending martyrdom or possible death causing illness.

See this for why Jesus Christ must be confessed as the Holy Word and Son of God: The Final Trial: Mary - revered by both Christians and Muslims as the vessel through whom God made the Word, Jesus Christ, Incarnate

The Muslim feast of Eid only commemorates the typological sacrifice by Abraham of Issac. That prefigured the final and only Supreme Sacrifice of Jesus Christ on His Most Holy Cross. It is only by the Sacrifice of Christ on His Cross that we are saved. Jesus Christ commanded, not suggested, that we be baptized; echoing the rest of the Church Fathers, St. Augustine noted that if someone could not be baptized even though they wanted it and did everything they could to be baptized in the water in name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, then their confession of faith is enough for their salvation. But no where are we allowed to refuse baptism.

All Muslims and everyone who will, are invited and encouraged to come to the water of life now and be baptized in the water and in the Spirit in name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and receive Communion.

In the below “Dam (Blood) Kadosh (Holy) bet Yeshua ha Maschiach (Jesus Christ) kanawn anawim (have mercy on Your faithful [those who turn to God by the shed Blood of Christ on Calvary])” is asking for God's forgiveness by the shed Holy Blood of Christ – which is the only forgiveness there is from God for sin.

Egypt: More Than 500 Sentenced to Death in Grotesque Ruling

24-03-2014Amnesty International- The death sentences handed down by an Egyptian court on March 25 2014 are a grotesque example of the shortcomings and the selective nature of Egypt’s justice system, Amnesty International said.
According to state media reports, in a single hearing this morning, the Minya Criminal Court sentenced 529 supporters of former President Mohamed Morsi to be executed for their alleged role in violence following his ousting in July last year.
“This is injustice writ large and these death sentences must be quashed. Imposing death sentences of this magnitude in a single case makes Egypt surpass most other countries’ use of capital punishment in a year,” said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, Deputy Middle East and North Africa Programme Director at Amnesty International.
“This is the largest single batch of simultaneous death sentences we’ve seen in recent years, not just in Egypt but anywhere in the world.
“Egypt’s courts are quick to punish Mohamed Morsi’s supporters but ignore gross human rights violations by the security forces. While thousands of Morsi’s supporters languish in jail, there has not been an adequate investigation into the deaths of hundreds of protesters. Just one police officer is facing a prison sentence, for the deaths of 37 detainees.
“Without an independent and impartial process that can deliver truth and justice for all, many will question whether Egypt’s criminal justice system has indeed anything to do with justice. In any event, recourse to the death penalty is inherently unjust, and the Egyptian authorities should impose a moratorium on executions, with a view to abolishing it.”

Egypt’s authorities do not release figures on death sentences and executions, despite repeated requests over the years by Amnesty International. The organization knows that Egyptian courts handed down at least 109 death sentences in 2013, after at least 91 death sentences in 2012, and at least 123 in 2011. The last known execution was carried out in October 2011, when one man was hanged for the killing of six Coptic Christians and a Muslim police guard in a drive-by shooting in January 2010.

Morsi At the Start Of The Trial: Down With The Military Rule!

Morsi and tanCAIRO – As Egypt’s new military-led government consolidates its power, Mohamed Morsi, the deposed president, went on trial on Monday in a makeshift courtroom, facing charges of inciting the murder of protesters.
But soon after the trial opened, news reports said, with Mr. Morsi defiantly rejecting its authority and proclaiming himself to be Egypt’s legitimate president, state television said the case was adjourned until Jan. 8.
The hearing was Mr. Morsi’s first public appearance since his removal from office on July 3, and, in a dizzying turn for Egypt, the second criminal trial of a former head of state in less than three years. Former President Hosni Mubarak, ousted in February 2011 and now under house arrest in a military hospital, is still facing a retrial at the same venue, the auditorium of a police academy.
Journalists who were allowed into the courtroom were not allowed to bring telephones or other communications devices, limiting the flow of information. But news reports quoted eyewitnesses in the courtroom as recounting that Mr. Morsi declared: “This trial is illegitimate,” and said he was Egypt’s lawful president.
He is charged with inciting the murders of at least three protesters in a night of street fighting between his supporters and opponents outside the presidential palace in December. But rights advocates say the charges are selective at best.

president morsiThe opening of the trial Morsi refused to wear the prison uniform. He also defended himself, rejected the legitimacy of the court and insisted he was the president of Egypt. Morsi said: “I am the legitimate president and he did not like the judiciary to be part of the military coup”.
As increasingly aggressive protesters began encircling the palace the night before the protesters were killed — even throwing Molotov cocktails over its walls — police refused to protect it. So on Dec. 5, leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood publicly called for the president’s Islamist supporters to do the job themselves, by force if necessary.
Hundreds of Islamists arrived that afternoon and forcibly evicted a small encampment the protesters had set up near the palace, and by nightfall thousands of Islamists were gathered to defend the site. Thousands of Mr. Morsi’s opponents attacked the Islamists and a night of deadly street fighting ensued, with rocks, Molotov cocktails and gunshots coming from both sides.
By morning, at least 11 people were dead, including at least eight supporters of the president and at least three non-Islamists, according to news reports. Prosecutors have not charged anyone over the Islamists’ deaths, and the charges against Mr. Morsi are related to the killing of three non-Islamists.
Mr. Morsi has been held incommunicado since his ouster, without access to his lawyer. A legal team preparing to represent him has said that he has spoken at least twice with his family over the telephone. But his supporters have said that they do not recognize the authority of the court, deeming the current military-backed government illegal and illegitimate.

Egypt Brotherhood Members Jailed For Life

egupyA military court in Egypt sentenced one of the supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi to life in prison, three people to 15 years and 45 others to five years, a military statement said.
Earlier, military sources said that 11 Muslim Brotherhood members were sentenced to life in prison for violence targeting the army in the port city of Suez last month. The men were accused of “shooting and adopting violent means” against the army in Suez on August 14 following a military crackdown in the streets of Cairo against supporters of the ousted President Mohamed Morsi. Forty-five other Brotherhood members were handed five-year jail terms on Tuesday, and eight defendants were acquitted.
The lawyer for the Muslim Brotherhood Ibrahim Fangary stated that the detainees were sentenced politically and that there was no legal grounds and evidence against them, pointing out that the aim of the provisions is to scare the supporters of President Mursi and to prevent them from further protests
The clashes took place on 14 and 16 August.  at least 31 were killed from the supporters of President Mursi and 177 wounded. Medical sources in the city said that 34 of the officers and army recruits were wounded and witnesses said that four army tanks were burned.
Morsi belonged to the Brotherhood movement. The Brotherhood was founded in 1928 and formally dissolved by Egypt’s army rulers in 1954 under the deceased president Gamal Abdel Nasser. In 1954, thousands of Brotherhood elements were jailed and tortured and dozens were executed in prisons.
The Brotherhood operated for decades as a formally outlawed organisation until veteran autocrat Hosni Mubarak was deposed in 2011. The movement then won a series of elections culminating in last year’s presidential vote.
The military deposed Morsi on July 3 after mass protests against his rule. Since then, most of the Brotherhood’s top leadership has been arrested and face charges of inciting violence. Morsi was himself referred to trial on Sunday on that charge.

The Role of Secret US Funding in Egypt’s Coup

usaidState Department Funnels Millions to Anti-Morsi Activists

By Dr Stuart Jeanne Bramhall

The Obama administration has come under fire for violating Section 508 of the 1999 Foreign Assistance Act by continuing $1.5 billion in military aid to the Egyptian generals who led the coup against Egypt’s democratically elected president and recently slaughtered more than 1,000 peaceful civilian protestors. The millions of dollars of secret aid the State Department funneled to anti-Morsi activists responsible for the mass protests preceding the coup is also illegal. However the corporate media is silent on this issue. It’s a non-event in the US mainstream media, despite the July 10 Al Jazeera expose by Emad Mekay from University of California-Berkeley’s Investigative Reporting Program.
Mekay’s article is mainly based on Internal Revenue and State Department documents he received via a Freedom of Information Act request, interviews with former Egyptian police intelligence officer Colonel Omar Afifi Soliman and Stephen McInerney, Executive Director of the Washington-based non-profit Project on Middle East Democracy (POMED), Egyptian court documents from Soliman’s 2011 trial in absentia for inciting violence against the US and Saudi embassies, and Soliman’s social media posts.
The Key State Department Front Groups
What Mekay learned was that since 2002, the State Department has been channeling hundreds of millions of dollars to Middle East pro-democracy activists through three State Department agencies, the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the Bureau for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL), and the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), as well as the CIA-linked nonprofit foundation National Endowment for Democracy (NED). Australian political scientist Michael Barker and William Robinson (Promoting Polyarchy 1996) have both written extensively about the role of NED and similar CIA-funded foundations in promoting US friendly “revolutions” in Eastern Europe and third world countries.
The funds are then re-routed to other organizations, such as the International Republican Institute, the National Democratic Institute (NDI),  and Freedom House. Tax returns and federal grant records show these groups have subsequently disbursed these funds to Egyptian non-profit organizations run by senior members of anti-Morsi political parties. This – funding foreign politicians and financing subversive activities targeting democratically elected governments – is also illegal under US law.
The NED has removed public access to Egyptian grant recipients in 2011 and 2012 from its website. However POMED’s executive director Stephen McInerney estimates Washington spends approximately $390 million annually on “democracy promoting” groups in the Middle East, with roughly $65 million going to Egypt in 2011 and $25 million in 2012. McInerney estimates anti-Morsi groups will receive comparable funding for 2013.
Our Man in Falls Church
Mekay mainly focuses on Soliman, who began receiving NED funds in 2008. Until 2011, Soliman’s “pro-democracy” group targeted Mubarak’s repressive regime. More recently his social media sites have targeted Morsi’s government. Tax returns show that NED paid Soliman tens of thousands of dollars through an organization he created called Huku Al-Nas (People’s Rights), based in Falls Church, Virginia. Soliman is the only employee.
After he was awarded a NED human rights fellowship in 2008, Soliman moved to the US. His group Ukuk Al Nas subsequently received a $50,000 NED grant in 2009, a $60,000 grant in 2010 and a $10,000 grant in 2011. Soliman acknowledged receiving the funding in an interview with Mekay. It also complained it was nowhere adequate.
In 2012, an Egyptian court sentenced Soliman in absentia for his 2011 role in inciting violence against the US and Saudi embassies. Court documents Mekay obtained revealed Soliman used media interviews, YouTube, and Facebook to call for the violent overthrow of Mubarak’s government.
Court documents indicate Soliman has taken down some of his older social media posts. However his recent Facebook posts to his 83,000 followers are pointedly graphic. A post in late May, as anti-Morsi opponents were in the planning stage for massive anti-government street protests instructs protestors to “behead those who control power, water and gas utilities.”
Then in late June, he advises his followers to “incapacitate them by smashing their knee bones first … ake a road bump with a broken palm tree to stop the buses going into Cairo, and drench the road around it with gas and diesel. When the bus slows down for the bump, set it all ablaze so it will burn down with all the passengers inside … God bless.”
On a YouTube video, Soliman takes credit for a December attempt to storm the Egyptian presidential palace with handguns and Molotov cocktails.
Other Anti-Morsi Groups Funded by the State Department
Mekay’s article goes on to detail (with dates and amounts) other anti-Morsi groups who have received State Department funding. These include the The Salvation Front main opposition bloc, a key organizer of recent protests that turned violent and Esraa Abdel-Fatah, a prominent figure in the Egyptian Democratic Academy. Last year Abdel-Fatah called on her followers to lay siege to mosques that supported Egypt’s new constitution, which was established via public referendum in December 2012. Other organizations identified in the IRS and State Department documents include the Hand in Hand for Egypt Association, which rallied Egypt’s Coptic Christian minority to take to the streets on June 30, and Reform and Development Party member Essmat al-Sadat, founder of the Sadat Association for Social Development. Sadat was a member of the coordination committee, the main organising body for the June 30 anti-Morsi protest.
US Encouragement to Incite Unrest
A number of recipients of US “democracy promoting” funding indicate that their US funders encouraged them to incite protests to whip up public sentiment against Morsi. Mekay’s article links to a YouTube video by anti-Morsi activist Saaddin Ibrahim, as well as an article in Egypt’s English language Daily News.
Mekay’s findings about the US role in fomenting public unrest in Egypt are corroborated by French Canadian Ahmed Bensaada’s 2011 Arabesque Americaine. The book details the role of State Department and CIA funding in all the so-called “Arab Spring” revolutions. I have posted an English summary of Bensaada’s key finding at Smoking Gun: US Role in Arab Spring.
There have been a few rather timid attacks against Mekay’s article and Al Jazeera (for running it) at the usual “free market” and pro Obama websites. Predictably the role State Department funding may have played in Egypt’s recent coup has been invisible in the corporate media. It’s an issue Washington policy makers prefer to keep hidden from the American people.

Ashton Holds Talks With Ousted President Morsi

EGYPTAshton’s spokesperson Maja Kocijancic confirmed that High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Vice-President of the European Commission Catherine Ashton met ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi on Monday evening and talked with him for two hours “deep conversation. Morsi was overthrown by a military coup on July 3. He had been held incommunicado since his ouster. According to some reports Ashton was flown by helicopter and Morsi is held outside of Cairo.
Ashton told reporters in Cairo that her meeting with Morsi took place at an undisclosed location. She said: “I saw where Morsi and what facilities he has, but I don’t know where he is”. She said: “he has access to information, in terms of TV and newspapers, so we were able to talk about the situation and we were able to talk about the need to move forward”.
Egypt’s authorities accused Morsi of collaborating with Hamas in the Gaza Strip and escaping detention during protests against former autocrat Hosni Mubarak in 2011.
Ashton tries to make reconciliation between Egypt’s rulers and the Muslim Brotherhood and to pull the country back from more bloodshed as one of the only EU outsiders that is accepted by both sides as a potential mediator.
Foreign countries are urging the military-backed rulers to reach compromise with Morsi’s Brotherhood to bring the country back from the brink of further bloodshed. On Saturday July, 27 2013 over 120 Brotherhood supporters were gunned down and more than 440 were injured among them at least hundred in critical at the intensive care units in the hospitals.

The government has ordered the Brotherhood to abandon a vigil it has maintained with thousands of supporters camping out to demand Morsi’s return. The Brotherhood says it will not leave the streets unless Morsi is restored.
Brotherhood spokesman Gehad El-Haddad said: “It’s very simple, we are not going anywhere”.
The violence has raised global anxiety that the army may try to crush the Brotherhood, a movement which emerged from decades in the shadows to win power in elections after Egypt’s 2011 Arab Spring uprising against Hosni Mubarak.
On the other hand, Ashton met General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the head of the army and the man who overthrew Egypt’s first freely-elected president. She also held talks with members of Road-map government appointed by the army and with representatives of the Freedom and Justice Party, the Brotherhood’s political wing.
Thousands of Brotherhood supporters have been camped out for a month at Cairo’s Rabaa al-Adawiya mosque, demanding Morsi’s reinstatement and defying threats by the army-backed authorities to remove them.

Morsi Banner Greets Muslims At Al-Aqsa Mosque

MorsiA huge banner bearing the image of ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi and Hamas flags greeted the tens of thousands of Muslim worshipers who arrived at Al-Aqsa Mosque for the first Friday of Ramadan.
Palestinian worshipers hung a huge banner on bearing the image of the ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi from one of the external walls at the entrance of Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza. The banner read, “Jerusalem – supports legitimacy – against the coup”, a reference to the former Egyptian president’s recent overthrow by the military.
On Saturday July 13 2013, over 12,000 Palestinians from Arab-Israelis held a pro-Morsi demonstration in the Arab town of Kafr Kanna in Israel.
The Palestinian Authority strongly criticized Saturday raising the picture for the ousted Egyptian President Muhammad Morsi at al -Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and called for keeping the Muslim holy site away from inter-Arab conflicts.
The Palestinian News Agency Wafa released that the “minister” of Waqf and Religious Affairs Mahmoud Habbash warned against using al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem as ground for inter-Arab conflict. He said the Mosque and Jerusalem should remain a symbol for Arab and Muslim unity, and not for division.

Gen. Abdel Fatah Said Al-Sisi, Commander in Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces since 12 August 2012 and the current Supreme Commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces led the military coup against the elected President Mohamed Morsi and arrest him together with leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood movement in Egypt.

Egypt Islamists On The Streets Against The Military Coup

DSC_3262Cairo – July 6, 2013 – Gen. Abdel Fatah Said Al-Sisi, Commander in Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces since 12 August 2012 and the current Supreme Commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces since 3 July 2013, made a mistake in estimating the strength of the Islamic movement, led by the Muslim Brotherhood movement in Egypt when he led the military coup against the elected President Mohamed Morsi, and arrest him in order to satisfy the opposition leaders.
The data indicate that Egypt and the Egyptians are the only ones who will pay the price for the military coup of Al-Sisi, and that the bloodbath of the civilians will not stop in Egypt, but would threaten the national security and the unity of the republic of Egypt for a long period and probably for years.
Perhaps President Morsi made mistakes during his short reign (one year only), but Morsi’s errors were small in compared with the errors of the military organization and Al-Sisi coup which could lead the country into a bloodbath which may cost the lives of hundreds and possibly thousands of Egyptians.
Agencies reported that there have been frightening scenes on the streets of Egypt as supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi face off against the military. Egypt’s Islamists have vowed further protests to demand the army restore the country’s first democratically-elected leader Mohamed Morsi, after a day of clashes which saw 30 people killed across the country.
“The masses will continue their civilized protests and peaceful sit-ins in Cairo until the military coup is reversed and the legitimate president is restored,” a coalition of Islamist groups said in an early morning statement on Saturday.
Ahead of the protests, central Cairo was already tense early on Saturday. Anti-Morsi protesters spent the night in Tahrir Square, with checkpoints manned by civilians after a night of deadly fighting nearby.

A bridge leading up to Cairo University – where Morsi supporters had been camping out – was littered with rocks and burned out tyres from confrontations between the two camps. Throughout the city, there were reports of gunfire during the night, adding to the tension.
The Tamarod movement, which engineered the mass protests against Morsi that culminated in his overthrow by the army on Wednesday, urged its supporters to take to the streets again on Sunday.
DSC_3271Tens of thousands of Morsi’s supporters turned out on Friday to protest against his ouster in the popularly backed military coup. Equally large numbers of anti-Morsi protesters also flooded the streets of Cairo and the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, sparking pitched battles between members of the rival camps.
Police meanwhile pressed a round-up of top Islamists, announcing the arrest of Khairat al-Shater, widely seen as the most powerful man behind Morsi in the Muslim Brotherhood movement.
At least 12 people were killed in Alexandria as Morsi’s supporters and opponents fought in the streets, the official MENA news agency said.
In Cairo’s iconic Tahrir Square, at least two people were killed when Morsi supporters traded fire with his opponents, state television reported.
The clashes subsided when the army separated the protesters using armoured vehicles.
“We are not taking sides. Our mission is to secure the lives of protesters,” military spokesman Colonel Ahmed Ali told AFP.
Four protesters were killed outside the Republican Guard headquarters after breaking away from a pro-Morsi demonstration, the official MENA news agency reported.
In the restive north of the Sinai peninsula, armed Morsi supporters stormed the provincial headquarters in the town of El-Arish after a gunfight and raised the black banner of Al-Qaeda-inspired Islamist militants, an AFP correspondent said.
A spokesman for UN chief Ban Ki-moon quoted him calling for a peaceful end to the crisis. “There is no place for retribution or for the exclusion of any major party or community”.
The United States, too, condemned the clashes and urged all leaders, including the army, to ensure the blood-letting ended.
“We condemn the violence that has taken place today in Egypt. We call on all Egyptian leaders to condemn the use of force and to prevent further violence among their supporters,” State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in a statement.
The Islamists accuse the military of conducting a brazen coup against Morsi, after millions called for his ouster on the June 30 anniversary of his first turbulent year in power.
The armed forces have already sworn in Adly Mansour as interim president, and he issued his first decree on Friday, dissolving the Islamist-led parliament and appointing a new intelligence chief.
Army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced Morsi’s overthrow on Wednesday night, citing his inability to end a deepening political crisis.
Morsi himself was “preventively detained”, a senior officer told AFP.
