EU Expresses Concern About PA Unlawful Arrests
The European Union has expressed its concern about the Palestinian Authority unlawful arrests and ill treatment, freedom of assembly, freedom of press and equal opportunities for women during the EU-Palestine policy dialogue on human rights, good governance and rule of law which was held on Nov. 27 2013.The EU commended the Palestinian side for its work on a National Action Plan for human rights and efforts to combat torture and improve access in some detention centres.
The EU addressed its concern about – inter alia – unlawful arrests and ill treatment, freedom of assembly, freedom of press and equal opportunities for women. Palestinian progress in strengthening the rule of law through reform in the justice and security sector was equally discussed.
The continued violation of prisoners rights at PA jails are documented in preparation for legal action at international courts at the right time.
