Italian Company Complicit In Israeli Violations Of International Law
According to Al-haq for Human Rights, an Italian firm Pizzarotti & C. S.p.A. potentially complicit in Israeli violations of international law – Upon receiving a request from the Italian campaign “Stop that Train”, Al-Haq has provided an opinion on the legal consequences that may arise from the private Italian firm Pizzarotti & C. S.p.A’s involvement in Israel’s violations of international law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT). “Stop that Train” has subsequently translated the legal opinion into Italian.
As a human rights organisation dedicated to the promotion and protection of human rights in the OPT, Al-Haq is gravely concerned by the involvement of Pizzarotti & C. S.p.A, through its partnership with Shapir Pizzarotti Railways Construction (S.P.R. Construction), in the tunnelling activities for the construction of Railway A1 Tel Aviv–Jerusalem (the Railway Line). The Railway Line crosses through the Palestinian villages of Yalu, Beit Surik and Beit Iksa, all located in the occupied West Bank. Involvement in such activities could amount to complicity in Israel’s violations of international law in the OPT and may lead to the commission of war crimes, thereby entailing the individual criminal responsibility of the Company’s high level directors and executives.
Al-Haq’s opinion on the legal consequences that may arise from Pizzarotti’s involvement in Israel’s violations of international law in the OPT is available here.
