Die Bekämpfung der Jugendarbeitslosigkeit muss in Europa höchste Priorität haben“, so Faymann. Für die Slowakei mit einer der höchsten Jugendarbeitslosenrate in der EU sei das besonders wichtig. Österreich gelte mit seiner Jugendgarantie bereits als Beispiel für ganz Europa.
Beide bekannten sich auch zur Notwendigkeit einer Finanztransaktionssteuer. Es sei daher wichtig, dass die Finanzminister die Arbeiten auf europäischer Ebene zügig vorantreiben, so Faymann.
Besprochen wurde ebenso die allfällige Abhaltung eines Wirtschaftsforums als Ausdruck der ausgezeichneten Wirtschaftsbeziehungen zwischen Österreich und der Slowakei.
Der Bundeskanzler brachte auch die großen Bedenken gegenüber der Nutzung von Kernkraft generell und im Besonderen über das grenznahe Kernkraftwerk Mochovce und dessen geplanten Ausbau zum Ausdruck. “Österreich wird weiterhin gegenüber der Europäischen Kommission auf die strikte Einhaltung aller EU-Umweltauflagen durch die Slowakei drängen. Auch der bilaterale Dialog auf Expertenebene muss noch intensiviert werden”, sagte der Kanzler abschließend.
