As in the days of Noah

Matthew 24:37 And as in the days of Noe, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Luke 17:26 And as it came to pass in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

The point that Our Lord Jesus Christ is making is this: that so many people are occupied with the things of this world, that they get swept away with the wicked, and that means destroyed.

The truly scary thing is this: Matthew 27:40 Then two shall be in the field: one shall be taken, and one shall be left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill: one shall be taken, and one shall be left. 42 Watch ye therefore, because ye know not what hour your Lord will come.

They are taken away as the chaff to be burned by the angels in hellfire forever. There is no secret rapture - that heresy is walking people straight into hell for eternity.

Matthew 3:12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his floor and gather his wheat into the barn; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.

Luke 3:17 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his barn; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.

Matthew 13:30 Suffer both to grow until the harvest, and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers: Gather up first the cockle, and bind it into bundles to burn, but the wheat gather ye into my barn.
...
39 And the enemy that sowed them [the chaff or cockle as Our Lord names it], is the devil. But the harvest is the end of the world. And the reapers are the angels. 40 Even as cockle therefore is gathered up, and burnt with fire: so shall it be at the end of the world. 41 The Son of man shall send his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all scandals, and them that work iniquity. 42 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then shall the just shine as the sun, in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

As in the days of Noah
